San Diego Comic Con & AIGA Talk Reminder

San Diego Comic Con

I'm going to be signing/sketching/etcetera at the Popgun table at San Diego Comic Con this Saturday from 2-3pm. My Swordsman Monster Slayer story was included in the third volume of the anthology.

AIGA Hampton Roads

As I mentioned last week, I'm gearing up for a talk this Thursday, July 23rd for the AIGA Hampton Roads in Norfolk, Virginia. Here is an interview I did to promote the event.

I was going through some stuff and found this stream of consciousness ink drawing from when I was learning to use nibs. Enjoy!

hey frank:) I love your work and this is a great update. I'm always on the hunt for some new techniques and was wondering how you ink your stuff? It looks very rough (in a very cool way:)) and I like those ink dots. You work with a fountain pen, a special drawing pen or with a brush? Can't wait for the next update, keep it up!

Thanks, Jan. When I look at this, though, I see a lot more Sergio Toppi, whom I was obsessed with at the time.

Ha. Pretty, also way different from your more organic clean animation-like style you use nowerdays (<_< three adjectives).

Like your old style alot too, reminds me of the old printing artists which I get to see you draw like that more often.

Also interested in what tools you use for ink.

And I have to thank you for the figure drawing post, that was great and informative.

Sick drawing- definitely see a bit of a Toppi influence like you said, but there's nothing wrong with that. Still all you man.

Great meeting you at SDCC sir - hope to get drawing with you Scott B and Arkady one day soon.
Cheers-s.
